Don't Forget for Mac

Your current task and its timer, always in the corner of your screen. Switch from any app with one shortcut, and let the timer pause itself when you step away.

Free · macOS 14.6 or later · Syncs with iPhone and iPad

Don't Forget's main window on Mac, with the task list on the left and Up Next on the right.
Menu bar

Your task, always one click away

The running task and its timer live in the menu bar. Click it for a panel with quick entry, the current task, today at a glance, and the tasks waiting for you. It opens without pulling you out of the app you're in, so you can type straight away.

Floating widget

Keep it in view while you work

Turn on the small floating window to keep the current task on screen next to your editor, browser or design file. Toggle it any time with ⌥⌘W or from the View menu.

Auto-pause

Walk away, and the timer notices

When your Mac sleeps, locks or starts the screen saver, the running task pauses. Come back within the time you choose (up to 15 minutes) and it resumes on its own. Longer than that, and it waits for you, so a coffee break doesn't count as focus.

Check-in

No more 9-hour timers

If a timer has been running for hours, Don't Forget checks in to ask if you're still on it. Missed it? Set when you actually stopped and your stats stay honest.

Keyboard first

Switch without reaching for the mouse.

Every action in the panel has a shortcut, and ⌃⌥D opens it from anywhere. It doesn't need Accessibility permissions.

Private by design

It knows when you're away, not what you're doing.

Auto-pause listens only for sleep, screen lock and the screen saver. Don't Forget doesn't record your screen, log your keystrokes or watch which apps you use.

One app for all your devices

The Mac app is the same download as the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch app. Tasks sync through your iCloud account, so you can start something at your desk and see it on your wrist or Lock Screen.

Made for people who work at a computer all day

If your job is full of context switches, like code reviews, support mail or calls, the menu bar is where Don't Forget is most at home. See how it fits into deep work with interruptions.

Mac questions

What does the Mac app do?

It lives in the menu bar. Click the timer (or press Control-Option-D from any app) to see your current task, switch, pause, or pick something up again, and keep a small floating widget on screen if you like. When your Mac sleeps, locks or starts the screen saver, the running task pauses, and it resumes if you're back soon.

Don't Forget for Mac

What if I walk away and forget to pause the timer?

On Mac, the timer pauses on its own when your Mac sleeps, locks or starts the screen saver. On iPhone, if you come back after a long time with the timer still running, the app asks if you were still working. You can also set when you actually stopped with "stopped at", or adjust the time by hand, so a forgotten timer doesn't skew your day.

Do my tasks sync between iPhone, iPad and Mac?

Yes, through your own iCloud account. There's nothing to sign up for. Your tasks, timers, steps and photos appear on each device signed in to the same Apple Account.

Is Don't Forget free?

Yes. Tasks, the timer, switching, steps, Up Next, Pomodoro, reminders, folders, widgets, the Mac menu bar app, the Apple Watch app, iCloud sync and your daily, weekly and monthly statistics are all free. Don't Forget Pro is an optional one-time purchase ($19.99 in the US; the App Store shows your local price).

Put your current task in the menu bar.

Free on the App Store, macOS 14.6 or later. Also on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
